Hey everyone! So today I am going to be doing a review and style using Camille Rose Naturals products! This is my first time ever using their products, and I must admit I am quite impressed! One of these products has become an absolute must-have of mine! You'll have to keep reading to find out which one though :)
Camille Rose Naturals Curl Love Moisture Milk & Curl Maker
So first, let's get into the products I tried! I tried the Camille Rose Naturals Curl Love Moisture Milk & the Camille Rose Naturals Curl Maker! Here is a close up of what the packaging looks like. I just love the cute packaging of their products. It really reminds me of a vintage cameo necklace. I've always thought they had cute packaging. I mean to be honest, I'd already seen Camille Rose Naturals in my local Target. I was tempted to try them out when I did, but I thought, "Hmm .. Kind of expensive. Should I spend the extra money on a product I really know nothing about? I mean, I do already have a bunch of other products I need to review," and with that, I passed on it. Yup! I passed on them, but I made a promise to myself that when I actually had the time and extra money I would try them out.
I had heard so much about them in the natural hair community, so I was simply curious. I mean, I'd seen blog posts, tutorials, and video reviews on their products, but I was STILL skeptical. As we all know, what works on one natural may not work on the next. And let's not forget those people who LOVE everything they're sent for review ... Yes, I hate them too lol. So, after all of that I just decided to wait it out. And it wasn't long after I noticed them in Target that Camille Rose Naturals actually noticed and contacted ME! It turns out they had re-formulated one of their products and wanted me to try it out!Camille Rose Naturals Curl Maker
The new re-formulated product sent to me by Camille Rose Naturals was their NEW Curl Maker (pictured left). It comes in a 12 oz bottle, and I used it on my whole head to style without putting a dent in it. It is a curling jelly formulated to fight frizz, and define curls. I've never tried the original formula, so I can't compare the new to the old. What I will say is this, this jelly reminds me a lot of Flaxseed gel. The difference being, it isn't as thick or sticky -which I liked. Another thing is, you can definitely tell it is water based, because it is very liquidy for a gel. Looking at it in the bottle, I assumed it would be much more thicker, and much more heavier. It turned out not to be either, and I liked it that way!
Due to it not being as thick as Flaxseed gel, it actually made my hair feel breathable. A lot of the time after styling my hair, my hair will feel weighed down by the products I'd used. This product didn't give me that feeling, which I was thankful for. But it definitely gave me the definition I wanted. Unlike most gels, it wasn't crunchy. I was quite surprised by this, because most gels (even flaxseed gel) leaves a crunch. This product left my hair soft, shiny, and most of all bouncy.
Should you try it?
Yes! Especially if you hate the crunch most gels leave. This jelly is especially made for wash 'n gos,so give it a whirl if you're a wash'n go girl OR guy. Like the saying goes, "What works for me, may not work for you," and vice versa. You may find this product irresistible, while I say it is usable. I say give it a try, and judge for yourself.
Camille Rose Naturals Curl Love Moisture Milk
Since I'd become a blonde, my hair regimen has had to completely change. I've had to change my LOC method to the LCO method, because placing oil directly on my blonde tresses could alter the color.
Sometimes it is easy to fix by simply re-washing your hair. But other times, it just doesn't go back to the color it quite was, and you end up having to make another trip to the salon. Fortunately, I haven't had to do that.
I've honestly tried to stay away from oil when I could, but I can tell my hair was missing it.
Anyway, in comes the CRN Moisture Milk. I actually purchased this from Target myself, after receiving the CRN Curl Maker. It was the last one left on the shelf, which says a lot about how other naturals also feel about this product. This product felt so good as I applied it to my hair. It wasn't greasy, it wasn't watery, it was JUST RIGHT. It reminds me of a whipped butter I made before, except it had a little added moisture because this product contains water - which is a plus! I applied this to my hair before applying the Curl Maker, and it was so good I had to stop myself from twisting without the Curl Maker a couple of times. I was just so satisfied with how it made my hair feel. My hair started drying as the day went on (I air-dry), and as it dried I would touch my two-strand twists every now and again. Everytime I touched my hair I thought, "Wow, my hair feels so soft," and the great part was, it wasn't greasy or heavy. The fact that I'd also used the CRN Curl Maker jelly with it, and was still able to get soft, bouncy, defined results says a lot about both products.
With that said, this is definitely a product I am going to keep buying and buying and buying, at least until I can whip up something just as good.
Would you believe me if I said I'm in love?
Here are some pics of me after using the Camille Rose Naturals Moisture Milk & Curl Maker. On freshly washed & conditioned hair, I did a flat twisted head band and chunky two strand twists in the back
I look pretty bare here. I don't have any makeup on, except mascara and a lipstain. I also used Curls Passion Fruit Control Paste on my edges & baby hairs.
Chunky Two Strands in the back.
These are my chunky two-strand twists. I did hanging bantu-knots on the ends to keep them defined.
A closer look at the moisture levels and my texture from the roots.
Here's a texture shot of my roots. They were so shiny and moisturized from the milk and jelly. My whole head felt like heaven.
Untwisted, Unseparated. True definition.
The definition of my twists turned out to be pretty good! And it definitely wasn't as frizzy as it usally is after a twist out. I have to admit, I am pretty impressed. Not only that, but my hair felt and still feels extremely soft.
My hair was defined from root to tips, and again not much frizz even though after taking the twists out I felt a little dampness.
My hair overall. The flat twist are hiding.
I loved the results, my hair felt so soft. And my roots were so defined.
The back of my hair after the roots were picked out for a bigger overall look.
I picked my roots, to make my hair appear bigger and fluffier. My hair still maintained its definition and sleekness after being picked and tousled.
My Right Side.
A peek at the right side of my head. This side, as usual, is the most defined area.
My Problem Side
The left side of my hair always has issues when it comes to definition. I had horrible heat damage on that side of my hair three years ago, and some of it is still growing out at the ends. Even with that issue, my hair still looked defined for the most part. It wasn't as defined as the right side of my hair, but I also didn't expect it to be.
